Brazil and EU discuss the oil pollution

Brazil has one of the largest oil activities in great depth the world. To prevent disasters caused by the oil spill, the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the Sectoral Dialogue Program, debate the issue in Brazil EU seminar on National Contingency Plans for Oil Pollution incident. The event, with three-day, began on Tuesday (29/09) at the headquarters of IBAMA in Brasilia.

The debate is part of the program Sector Dialogues and aims to discuss and strengthen the National Contingency Plan for Pollution Incidents by Oil. In addition to disseminating the experiences of EU countries with regard to combat, contingencies and preventive monitoring of the oil spill.

CLOSE COOPERATION

"By providing this discussion platform we are creating conditions for closer, detailed and deep cooperation," said the executive secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment, at the opening of the event.

He said the Sector Dialogues provide a first part of prospecting opportunities between Brazil and the European Union that will open channels and establish the first conversation to a more open relationship. "They are learning opportunities, the National Contingency Plan is a challenge, so we have much to learn from our partners," he added.

INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUE

European experts disseminate information to partners, showing what is most advanced in the matter of oil spill monitoring the world and how European countries are dealing with possible contingencies.

The learning public policies depends on the international dialogue to address the challenges of owning a structured planning and create a National Contingency Plan based on international best practices and conditions for agencies in charge of making the fight have support for conducting an efficient job.

The Director of Environmental Protection Ibama, Luciano Evaristo, talked about the expectations regarding the outcome of the debate. "I hope you get out of here a new vision," he said. "A proposal for improving the National Contingency Plan, setting a Brazilian state intervention planning on the issue of oil spill, which provides real conditions of coping that today we are not yet seeing within our decree."
